1. Don’t underestimate the power of speaking to those you already know.
It sounds cheesy I know, but truthfully, I started by emailing, texting, calling and reaching out to everyone I knew on social media, to tell them my exciting plans for my new business venture and to ask if they knew anyone that may need my services. If not - then bear me in mind for the future. I must stress how important it is, to get clear on who your audience is. People like things simple.
2. Get referrals from existing clients.
Your clients chose to work with you, so who better to help you get more business. They are also likely to have a network full of people similar to them!
3. GIVE, GIVE, GIVE.
Whether it be through social media groups or your LinkedIn network - you have a voice, so use it!
People buy from people. If you are being truly authentic, your target audience will be inspired to make contact with you. Keep showing up and providing value and eventually, you’ll be front of mind.
4. Build relationships with like-minded people within your industry.
When I started out I traded work as a subcontractor in return for testimonials and a portfolio. I logged every piece of work and feedback that I could so that I had the tools I needed to send proposals to potential clients. Even now - I stay in touch with these peers to share industry thoughts and news.
5. Use LinkedIn.
I have to say, LinkedIn was a game-changer for the business. When used correctly, LinkedIn can be your goldmine of opportunities.
