Do I need a website?
As a new business owner, you may be tempted to go out and perfect everything immediately. You may be tempted to make sure that you have every possible type of Software you could possibly need for your business, along with, next, spending a small fortune on building a website. That’s before you’ve even opened your doors to potential clients.
We’re here to tell you that it’s just not necessary.
I’m not going to lie to you - I’ve barely come across a business owner that didn’t suffer from ‘shiny object syndrome’ when starting out, but the reality is, they don’t use half of it, let alone find the time to make use of all of it!
When I started the business almost 3 years ago, I was convinced that I needed to have a website - once I had that, the enquiries would soon flock in! Well, that just was NOT the case. That’s fine, I thought, maybe it’s because I’ve not invested in SEO etc, etc, etc. There was always something that I thought would make the Sales easy. But that was naive, for a business in its infancy.
Anyway, my point is - do you need a website in your first 6 months or even a year, or even 2 years - NO.
A website is not a necessity until you have a reasonable amount of paying clients, in my opinion. Get some cash flow coming through the business and then you can start looking at websites.
So what would we suggest in the meantime?
A Facebook page. Seriously. It’s free, easy to use and can do almost as much as a website without the overhead cost.
